A premade cover is made up by the artist, not based on any specific story. Rather, the artist has ideas about genres and tropes, and tries to create a visual appealing image that would work within a specific genre or for the possibility of a story. Authors buy them when they find a design that reflects the story they're working on.
Premade cover designs (at least if you get them from me!) can only be sold one time, meaning they will be unique to your book and your book alone.
No! I will update any text to align with your author name and title.
I am a big fan of science fiction and fantasy, so most of my covers will be in that genre. However, I sometimes like to dabble in other genres, like literary fiction or romance. If you like my work and would like to discuss the possibility of another genre with me, reach out!
You can make the request, but whether or not I can fulfill your request will depend on the nature of the edits and the way the cover was made. If you have questions about a specific design, please reach out! It may be better to arrange a custom cover if you have more specific requirements.
Simply click the PayPal link beneath the image, and I will reach out within 48 hours to get any additional information from you. I do not accept payments other than through PayPal.
I can provide covers in ebook sizes, paperback, and audiobook. If you have other requests, please let me know! If there are issues with the design after uploading it to your distributor, send me a screenshot and I'll do my best to fix it!
I do my best to have it returned to you within a week of receiving the information about your covers. If I need more time, I will let you know. I will send the final formats either via email or a Dropbox folder (depending on how many files there are and their sizes.
Generally I won't accept returns, but if you have specific concerns, please let me know so we can work it out.
Yes, for an additional fee. I can also do audiobook covers, and if you have a request for a different format, hmu.
Yes. I get all of my images either through DepositPhotos or MidJourney.
On your copyright page, please include the line:
Cover design by Margo Hawthorne Designs, (c) [year]. All images from DepositPhotos or MidJourney.
If this is different for your design for some reason, I'll let you know!
Not without your consent.
I only accept payments through PayPal. This protects both you (you can get your money back if I disappear) and me. It's also easier for my taxes, TBH.
Yes! I offer custom cover design through Fiverr. I do it this way because there are protections built in for creators on the platform. You can find me by clicking here!
I also offer marketing materials. If you'd like me to put together some marketing materials for a cover you had previously designed, just reach out! I can invoice you for it separately.
Reach out! I can't make exactly the same design, but I could do something in a similar vein.
I'm cool with AI if you are. If you don't want me to use AI in a cover design, please let me know up front. If you have an AI image you'd like me to create a cover with for you, I can do that too! Click here to see my Fiverr gig.
Nah, I'm an author! I have almost 50 books published in the science fiction and fantasy genres. I learned how to do cover designs in 2019 and have been practicing ever since. I do all my own cover designs these days, and have been slowly updating all my covers to reflect my style and brand. I was resistant to learning at first, but it turns out I adore creating covers. Creating covers for other authors is a fantastic opportunity for me to explore making designs for books I'm never going to write!
I believe that the cover tells a story just like the book does, so I try to make covers that ask a question, even if that question is as simple as: WTF is going on here? Because those questions are what make the reader pick up the book!
